NASA Astronaut Al Sacco Jr. to Lead at National Science Teachers Association Workshop in Boston Microgravity researcher and Commercial Space Center Director -- and Boston native -- Dr. Al Sacco Jr. will lead a workshop for teachers (and other interested parties) March 27th on "The Ultimate Challenge: Defy Gravity." Sacco will share his experiences from his 16-day space flight on the 2nd United States Microgravity Laboratory (USML-2) mission. He will also talk about future research, including commercial space-based research, on the International Space Station and take part in a question and answer session. Afterwards, he will be available at NASA's booth, "Microgravity Research, The Future Begins In Your Classroom," to talk one-on-one with educators. Dr. Sacco is the Director of the Center
for Advanced Microgravity Materials Processing, a NASA Commercial Space
Center based at Boston's Northeastern University that specializes in catalytic
chemistry and ferroelectrics. He also holds the George A. Snell Chair
of Engineering at Northeastern and his teaching is one reason he volunteers
time to work with educators on all levels. The National
Science Teachers Association National Convention is the largest gathering
of science educators in the world. It will run from March 25 -28 at the
John B. Hynes Convention Center, and Dr. Sacco's workshop will be held
in room 201 from 2-3 p.m. EST on the 27th. http://www.dac.neu.edu/cammp/
